NSA is founded on the principles of Bruce Lee’s original art
Jun Fan Gung Fu and believes that all martial art systems, though different,
contain valuable information that enhances ones skills and provides a basis of respect
for other arts. We believe in the concept "Use all ways, reject none".
NSA is open to new ideas and martial art systems. We teach techniques
from arts that have originated in countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, China, Thailand,
Korea, Japan, Brazil as well as methods from western fighting systems.
Because of this, we encourage our students to explore and examine
different martial art styles and adapt those techniques best suited for
their particular needs and abilities.
NSA is dedicated to guiding our students to become black belts that
display high ethical conduct, courteous behavior towards others, use the principles learned in
their training to benefit themselves and others, are proficient in self
defense skills from a variety of disciplines and who will carry on the tradition
of a true martial artist.
NSA strives to incorporate safe, effective and cutting edge physical
fitness techniques to enhance a students coordination, balance and strength.
These skills can be applied to learning martial arts as well as extracurricular
sports and activities. NSA is committed to the idea of
life long fitness.
Our goal at NSA is to provide a safe, fun and friendly environment
where students will learn martial art skills and be challenged mentally and physically.
NSA also hosts well known martial artists that conduct seminars and expose students to
the many varied martial art systems. NSA intends to be a learning
center for all martial art practitioners.
Curriculum
NSA offers three basic programs depending upon the age of the student.
There are programs for Little Dragons (4 - 6 years old), Jr. Students (7 - 12 years old)
and Adults. As part of your membership in the junior or adult program you will receive
a requirements book that details the skills and techniques that must be learned in order
to promote to the next rank.
In order for an adult student to test for promtion, he or she must meet a minimum number of hours spent training
at the school. When the adult student reaches the minimum number of hours, the student may request to be tested at the end
of that month. Adult students that demonstrate the necessary skills during the test will be awarded with their next rank.
For junior students, there is a minimum time requirement of four months between
each promotion test. Junior students will stripe test each month and those who successfully demonstrate
the required skills will be given a stripe. After the student receives four stripes the student will be
eligible to participate in a promotion exam. Junior students must be in class a minimum of six times per
month in order to test for stripes or promotions.
Little Dragons test for stripes each class. There are eight colored stripes they must earn
in order to be awarded a new rank. Rank exams for Little Dragons are held every 8 - 10 weeks.
Protocol and Rules
We expect that all students will treat all people with the appropriate amount of respect and courtesy.
This expectation exists for each student regardless of where they are (work, home, school, etc).
Children who do not maintain adequate
grades or proper behavior at home or in the school can be demoted, have stripes taken away,
or be excluded from testing until the situation is corrected. It is expected that students will
arrive a minimum of 10 minutes before class. If another class is in session the students
will need to wait in the foyer until the previous class has ended. Students who arrive early
are expected to practice or wait quietly until class begins. It is expected that all students
will arrive wearing their proper uniform. Non-NSA clothing is not permitted.
Parents are welcome to sit in and view class so long as they sit quietly and do not disrupt class.
